The Permission Attribute accepts one of the following text strings:
  • Permission="Add"
  • Permission="View"
  • Permission="Edit"
  • Permission="Delete"

Using the Permission attribute allows Adminstrators to define Views - often for specific Users or Groups - with customized permissions for add, view, edit, and delete records.

The attribute can be coded directly in any View, or added automatically using the Permission Views link on the Admin Menu.

Permission Views opens the Permission editing window.

Toggling the control to Override the Permissions enables a control field that can be set to Add, View, Edit, or Delete.  Note that some permissions are dependent on others.  If you enable Edit, View permission is enabled automatically.  Changing and Saving a permission record will create a New User View with the Permission attribute set appropriately.

The following example creates a View which:

1  Applies to a single user - Abigail TheIntern.
2   Overides the default permission
3   Grants Edit permission to the Trustees View.  For that User - the links to Add new Trustees or Delete existing ones will not be available.

Saving the above Permission record creates a User View for the Trustees View with the following XML Overlay
<View Id="Trustees" TableId="Contacts" Purpose="This User View applies to Abigail TheIntern" Permission="Edit" >
